5 Ways to Sneak in a Holiday Workout

5 Ways to Sneak in a Holiday Workout

The holidays are the time when most healthy lifestyle choices fail. With added stress and more demands on your time, it can be hard to find time to get in a workout every day. If the holiday rush is cutting into your exercise plan, try using a stealth plan to sneak in a workout while doing your regular activities. Our Atlanta chiropractor, Dr. Jared Simon, can help you with many ways to incorporate exercise into your daily routines. Here are five tactics that work especially well during the holidays.

Our Atlanta Chiropractor Advises Quick Workouts

woman working out during holidaysExercise doesn't have to come in one big chunk. In fact, it may be healthier for you to find exercise time during your entire day than to just work out and forget it. Keeping healthy choices in mind through the day will help you to make better choices in all parts of your life.

  1. Get a walking workout. Park at the back of the lot and walk to the mall. If you're stuck waiting for a flight, check your bags in a locker and hike the airport from one end to the other. Walk up escalators while shopping instead of riding the elevator.
  2. Keep equipment handy. Going on vacation? Pack a swimsuit, exercise bands, or a jump rope. Use them at the hotel during down time.
  3. Use small relatives. Don't be the uncle or grandmother who sits around, be the one who challenges kids to a jump rope contest or a game of snow soccer. Turn family time into fun and exercise time.
  4. Use small moments. Waiting for the microwave? Do squats. Watching television? Get up and dance through every commercial that has music.
  5. Fit in small bursts of exercise through your work day. Take stairs instead of the elevator, do wall pushups or knee lifts on breaks, or stand up and walk around briskly every hour.

Getting fit and keeping healthy during the holidays is possible, but it takes concentration and determination while not overdoing it. Our sports injury chiropractor will educate you on the best ways to avoid injuries and will know what to do if they occur.
